Job description
Our client is a leader in promoting health and wellness through medically supervised exercise programs. They are dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals by integrating medical and fitness strategies. They are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable National Medical Exercise Certified Expert to join their team.
Job Overview:
The National Medical Exercise Certified Expert will be responsible for developing and overseeing exercise programs tailored for individuals with medical conditions or those recovering from injuries. This expert will work alongside healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective exercise interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement medically supervised exercise programs for patients with various health conditions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, physical therapists, and dietitians, to create comprehensive health and fitness plans.
- Conduct fitness assessments for new clients and continuously monitor their progress.
- Educate patients on the importance of exercise in managing their health conditions.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and group training sessions.
- Stay current with the latest research in exercise science and medical fitness.
- Develop and present workshops and training programs for staff and community members.
- Maintain detailed records of clients’ progress and adjust programs as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Exercise Specialist (MES) or equivalent certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a medical fitness or rehabilitation setting.
- Strong understanding of chronic diseases and conditions, and how they affect exercise capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with specific populations, such as seniors, cardiac rehab patients, or those with diabetes.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and fitness assessment software.
- Ability to design research-based exercise programs.
