Swimming Instructor

The Swimming Instructor is responsible for conducting individual and group swimming lessons and programs for members, focusing on improving swimming techniques, performance, and overall fitness. This role requires a professional approach to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and effective learning environment. The Swimming Instructor plays a crucial role in promoting swimming classes, managing bookings, and maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness in the pool area.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual and group swimming lessons, tailoring instruction to meet the needs of members of all ages.

• Assess members' performance, provide feedback, and track progress.

• Promote swimming classes to members and handle bookings efficiently.

• Ensure all clients complete necessary payments and forms prior to their first session, and follow up after each lesson to confirm “sign off.”

• Implement and enforce swimming pool rules and regulations.

• Coordinate with fellow lifeguards to ensure a safe and smooth operation in the pool area.

• Be prepared to perform lifesaving procedures and administer first aid as needed.

• Cover lifeguard duties when required and oversee the operation of both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

• Conduct regular checks in the plant room and ensure completion of preventive maintenance and swimming pool checklists.

• Perform routine water balance tests and maintain high cleaning standards in the pool area.

• Provide regular feedback and reports to the Recreation Manager.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

• Certification in Swimming Instruction from a recognized organization.

• Previous coaching experience, preferably with competitive swim teams.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.

• CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications are required.

• Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various swimming techniques.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and prospective clients.

• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Proven ability to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized pool environment.
