The role of a Structural Engineer in construction involves designing, analyzing, and overseeing the structural integrity of buildings and infrastructure projects. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with project teams, architects, and contractors to ensure structures meet project specifications and safety standards. The Structural Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that construction projects are structurally sound, efficient, and compliant with all relevant codes and regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and analyze structural components and systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Conduct site inspections and assessments to evaluate existing structures and ensure compliance with design specifications.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to develop and optimize structural designs.
Perform structural calculations and simulations to ensure safety and performance under various conditions.
Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors and suppliers.
Provide technical guidance and support during the construction and installation phases.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for structural designs.
Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for project stakeholders.
Investigate structural failures and recommend corrective actions.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in structural engineering and construction technology.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Structural Engineer in the construction industry, with GCC experience preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
Proficiency in structural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, or similar tools.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and structural systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and regulations.
Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is beneficial.
