The role of an MEP Draftsman involves creating detailed drawings and plans for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in buildings and infrastructure projects. This position requires precision, technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure that all MEP systems meet project specifications and standards. The MEP Draftsman plays a crucial role in translating engineering designs into detailed schematics that guide the construction process.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed drawings and plans for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Collaborate with engineers and architects to develop and optimize MEP designs.
Review and interpret technical specifications and engineering documents.
Create and update MEP schematics, layouts, and diagrams using CAD software.
Ensure that all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Conduct site visits to verify the accuracy of drawings and gather additional data as needed.
Assist in the coordination of MEP systems with other building components and systems.
Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors and suppliers.
Provide technical support during the construction and installation phases.
Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in MEP drafting techniques and software
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Diploma or degree in Drafting, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman in the construction industry, with GCC experience preferred.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and regulations.
Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is beneficial.
