As an Instrument Technician in the oil and gas industry, you will be integral to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems critical to production facilities. Utilizing your technical expertise, you will ensure the accuracy and reliability of instruments, contributing to operational efficiency and safety. Your role will encompass maintaining instrumentation integrity, adhering to industry standards, and supporting the optimization
of facility performance.
Job Responsibilities:
Install, calibrate, and maintain a variety of instrumentation and control systems within oil and gas production environments.
Diagnose and repair faults in instruments, control devices, and associated equipment to minimize downtime and uphold operational continuity.
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to sustain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of instrumentation systems.
Conduct thorough inspections and performance tests to validate instrument functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to implement upgrades, modifications, and enhancements to instrumentation systems.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of maintenance activities, calibration records, and equipment specifications in accordance with industry standards.
Assist in the commissioning and startup of new instrumentation systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
Participate actively in safety audits, hazard assessments, and emergency response drills to promote a safe working environment.
Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry best practices in instrumentation and control systems to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide technical guidance and support to fellow technicians and contribute to training programs aimed at enhancing team competencies.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
7-8 years of hands-on experience as an Instrument Technician within the oil and gas sector, with a proven track record in instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experience in the GCC region is highly advantageous, demonstrating familiarity with local industry practices and standards.
Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and calibrating various types of instrumentation and control systems.
Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills, coupled with a methodical approach to fault diagnosis and resolution.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams related to instrumentation systems.
Thorough understanding of safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance practices applicable to the oil and gas industry.
Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by operational needs.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages, particularly Arabic, is advantageous.
