Head Waiter/Waitress

The Head Waiter is responsible for overseeing the dining room operations and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. This role includes supervising the waitstaff, coordinating seating arrangements, maintaining service standards, and resolving customer inquiries and issues in a professional and timely manner. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering excellent service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Supervise Waitstaff: Train, guide, and manage the performance of waiters and ensure they meet service standards.
  • Guest Experience Management: Welcome guests, manage reservations, and ensure exceptional service from start to finish.
  • Oversee Table Service: Ensure efficient service, from taking orders to serving food and drinks, and managing special requests.
  • Maintain Cleanliness and Order: Ensure tables are properly set, dining areas are clean, and all health and safety regulations are met.
  • Monitor Food and Beverage Quality: Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure food is served promptly and up to quality standards.
  • Handle Customer Complaints: Address any service or food-related issues and resolve them in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing stock levels of beverages and other dining room supplies.
  • Assist with Training and Development: Conduct regular training sessions for staff to enhance customer service skills and knowledge of the menu.
  • Coordinate Special Events: Assist in organizing and managing special events and large parties.
  • Cash and Payment Handling: Assist with bill settlements and ensure the correct handling of cash and credit card transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a waiter, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or head waiter role.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality training or certifications preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
    • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
    • Proficiency in handling POS systems.
