Governance Consultant

We are seeking a skilled Governance Consultant to support the establishment and development of a robust Governance Framework for our organization. This role is a short-term contract (3 months) focused on designing and implementing governance structures, processes, and operational models while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and global best practices. The Risk and Compliance functions are already fully mature; hence, the focus will be exclusively on governance development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop Governance and Operational Model:

o Design and establish governance structures, policies, and operational frameworks tailored to the organization’s needs.

o Define roles, responsibilities, and decision-making hierarchies within the governance model.

2. Conduct Internal Meetings and Alignment:

o Facilitate alignment sessions with internal stakeholders to ensure buy-in and integration of the governance framework.

o Organize and lead workshops to gather input and feedback on governance-related initiatives.

3. Approval of Governance Framework:

o Prepare documentation and presentations for management to approve the proposed governance framework.

o Incorporate feedback from key stakeholders and ensure the framework is aligned with organizational objectives.

4. Develop Guidelines:

o Draft detailed guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support the governance framework.

o Ensure guidelines comply with regulatory and industry standards.

5. Train Staff on Governance Practices:

o Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on governance principles, processes, and their roles within the framework.

o Provide onboarding support for relevant teams to ensure smooth adoption of governance practices.

6. Implementation and Monitoring:

o Oversee the initial implementation of the governance framework and operational model.

o Establish monitoring mechanisms to track progress and effectiveness of governance initiatives.

7. Additional Deliverables:

o Define governance metrics and KPIs to evaluate performance.

o Develop a governance risk register to identify and address potential governance challenges.

o Provide a roadmap for future governance improvements post-contract.

o Collaborate with IT teams to ensure any governance-related software solutions are aligned with the established framework.

o Draft policies for board and management committees to define their roles and responsibilities clearly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, Corporate Governance, or a related field.
  • 10 Years proven experience in designing and implementing governance frameworks within a corporate or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of governance best practices, regulatory requirements, and operational planning.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality results under tight timelines.
