Estimation Engineer - Automation Controls

The Automation Controls Estimation Engineer is responsible for evaluating and estimating the costs associated with designing and installing control systems across commercial, industrial, or residential buildings. This role involves technical analysis, cost assessment, and proposal creation for control solutions, ensuring that all project requirements, timelines, and budgets are met. The engineer will work closely with design teams, vendors, and clients to provide accurate and competitive cost estimations for automation control systems.
Job Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for automation control projects, including hardware, software, installation, and integration.
- Assess labor, materials, and equipment costs to ensure competitive and realistic bidding.
- Perform quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Technical Support:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and system requirements to ensure an understanding of the project scope.
- Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and clients to clarify project details and define system requirements.
- Provide technical input for system configurations, including HVAC control, lighting systems, security, and energy management.
Bid Preparation:
- Compile proposals, quotations, and tenders for control systems and services.
- Ensure that all components of the control solution (controllers, sensors, actuators, etc.) are included in the proposal.
- Assist the sales team in responding to RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and RFQs (Requests for Quotations).
Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Estimate timeframes for project completion and recommend project scheduling.
- Coordinate with project managers to align estimates with project timelines and budgets.
- Identify and assess potential risks that may affect project delivery.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
- Engage with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotations for materials, equipment, and services related to control systems.
- Evaluate vendor proposals to ensure they meet technical and financial project requirements.
Budget Management:
- Monitor project costs during execution to ensure alignment with the budget.
- Suggest cost-saving measures while maintaining the integrity of the control system.
Documentation:
- Prepare detailed reports, including cost breakdowns and system design specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, tenders, and quotations for future reference.
Client Interaction:
- Communicate with clients to understand their needs and offer tailored control solutions.
- Present and explain estimates and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure client satisfaction throughout the estimation and bidding process.
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all control solutions meet industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies, regulations, and trends in building management systems.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in control system estimation, project engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with control components such as controllers, sensors, HVAC systems, and security systems.
- Strong understanding of BMS software and hardware, including SCADA systems, control panels, and energy management tools.
- Proficient in estimation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Estimating software).
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, lighting control, and security systems integrated into BMS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
- Valid visa and QID for immediate joining.
