The role of an Electrical Engineer in construction involves designing, developing, and overseeing electrical systems and installations within construction projects. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with project teams, architects, and clients to ensure electrical systems meet project requirements and standards. The Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in planning, designing, and implementing electrical solutions that support project goals and adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
Design electrical systems and installations in accordance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
Prepare detailed electrical drawings, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate electrical systems with overall project design.
Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to assess project requirements and propose solutions.
Specify electrical equipment and materials based on project needs and budget constraints.
Perform electrical load calculations and power distribution system design.
Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct site inspections and audits to monitor electrical installation progress and quality.
Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases.
Assist in project commissioning, testing, and startup activities for electrical systems.
Prepare operation and maintenance manuals for installed electrical systems.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in the construction industry, with GCC experience required.
Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and lighting design.
Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and control systems is advantageous.
Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient technologies.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
