The Commis I – Pastry supports the pastry kitchen in the preparation, production, and presentation of desserts, breads, and baked goods within a luxury hotel environment. The role requires precision, consistency, and adherence to the high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation expected in a five-star operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior pastry chefs in the preparation and production of desserts, pastries, breads, and baked items.
  • Carry out assigned pastry tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Follow standardized recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure mise en place is prepared efficiently for daily operations and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pastry workstations and equipment.
  • Comply with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards at all times.
  • Properly store ingredients and finished products, ensuring correct labeling and stock rotation.
  • Support smooth pastry operations during service and events.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen sections and team members.
  • Participate in ongoing training and skill development within the pastry department.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Commis I – Pastry or similar role in a luxury hotel or resort.
  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert presentation.
  • Pastry or culinary certificate/diploma preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene certification required or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • Strong sense of cleanliness, organization, and precision.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
