As a Baggage Handler in the aviation industry, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely handling passengers' luggage and cargo. Your role ensures that baggage is loaded, unloaded, and transferred between aircraft and terminal facilities, contributing to the smooth operation of airline services.
Key Responsibilities:
Load and unload luggage, cargo, and other items onto and from aircraft, ensuring proper weight distribution and adherence to safety protocols.
Operate ground service equipment (GSE) such as baggage carts, conveyor belts, and tow tractors to transport baggage to and from aircraft and terminal facilities.
Sort and stack luggage and cargo according to destination, flight schedules, and airline specifications.
Ensure baggage and cargo are securely strapped, labeled, and documented to prevent loss or damage during transit.
Collaborate with flight crew, ground crew, and other airport personnel to maintain efficient baggage handling operations.
Assist passengers with oversized or special items, including sports equipment and musical instruments, ensuring proper handling and loading procedures.
Monitor and report any irregularities or issues with baggage handling equipment or procedures to maintenance or supervisory personnel.
Adhere to safety regulations, operating procedures, and security measures to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in aviation, logistics, or related fields is advantageous.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Baggage Handler or in a similar role within the aviation industry.
Experience in the GCC region is preferred, with knowledge of local airport operations and safety standards.
Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy items and work in varying weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate baggage handling and documentation.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational requirements.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
Proficiency in English is required; additional languages such as Arabic are advantageous.
