Assistant Director of Engineering

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations within a luxury hotel or resort. This role ensures that all building systems, equipment, and infrastructure operate at peak efficiency, providing guests with a safe, comfortable, and high-quality environment in line with luxury hospitality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing the engineering department, including maintenance staff, technicians, and contractors.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all hotel systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, fire safety, and building automation).
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Monitor budgets, procurement, and inventory of engineering supplies and equipment.
• Assist in planning and executing renovation, refurbishment, and capital improvement projects.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure facilities meet operational and guest service requirements.
• Implement and maintain energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
• Provide technical support for emergency situations, including 24/7 availability for critical incidents.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff to maintain high standards of performance and professionalism.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
• Significant experience in engineering management within luxury hotels or resorts.
• Strong knowledge of hotel systems, building infrastructure, and maintenance procedures.
• Leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate staff.
• Budgeting, project management, and analytical skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Familiarity with luxury service standards and guest expectations.
